Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina commented on Sunday that during the BNP-Jamaat coalition government, jobs in the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) were secured based on lists sent from Hawa Bhaban, rather than through the examination process.
She said, “The 24th BCS exam was held in 2002. During the BNP period, lists from Hawa Bhaban were sent during any recruitment test, and jobs were ensured according to that list. A special room was kept in Dhaka College at that time. Their people used to sit for exams there, and only those people got jobs. Now there is no talk about those acts.”
Sheikh Hasina noted that nepotism in recruitment started during the Zia era and continued during Khaleda's tenure. “We tried to move away from it and succeeded. After the cancellation of the quota, many people entered the job market. They are now sitting in various places and engaging in misdeeds, including leaking questions,” she added.
