HSC, equivalent exams suspended in 2 Feni upazilas

The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations scheduled for Tuesday in Fulgazi and Parshuram upazilas of Feni have been postponed due to heavy rains and flash flood.

Feni Deputy Commissioner Musammat Shahina Akter confirmed the matter to Jago News on Tuesday.

She said heavy rains and onrush of upstream water caused flooding in different parts of the district on Monday. This made the examination centers at Fulghazi and Parashuram upazilas unusable. We informed the matter to the three boards (General Education Board, Madrasa Education Board and Vocational) through letters. As per their instructions, we suspended today’s examinations in the two upazilas.

The Water Development Board said the Muhuri River is flowing 130 cm above the danger level due to heavy rains and water from upstream India. Several villages of Fulgazi and Parashuram upazilas were inundated as four places of flood control dam collapsed.

However, the vehicular movement on Feni-Parshuram regional road has been remained suspended since Monday night.

Tania Bhuiyan, Fulgazi Upazila Nirbahi Officer, said all kinds of preparations have been taken to deal with disasters like floods.
