BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged the government to free the party Chairperson Khaleda Zia, otherwise, it will have to face consequences.
"We want to clearly say, free the country leader (Khaleda Zia), otherwise, you (government) will have to be prepared for any consequences," he warned.
"People of the country will never allow her (Khaleda Zia) to stay in jail unjustly like this, you (government) should mind it," he said.
Mirza Fakhrul said this while speaking as chief guest at a rally in front of BNP's Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka on Saturday arranged to demand Khaleda Zia's release.
Calling Khaleda Zia the symbol of democracy and their movement, he told the party leaders and activists, "We must be united to save her, our democracy and rights."
