Court orders confiscation of NBR 1st secretary's properties

A court in Dhaka has ordered the confiscation of movable and immovable properties of Quazi Abu Mahmud Faisal, the first secretary at the National Board of Revenue (NBR).

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Ash-Shams Jaglul Hossain passed the order on Thursday following a plea by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The court sources said the NBR official, Mahmud Faisal, amassed a huge amount of property through bribery and corruption and the ACC is investigating this.

An inquiry team of the anti-graft body primarily found Tk 16 crore moveable and immovable properties, including a flat, two plots, and savings certificates.
