Nine people were killed in separate incidents of landslide in Rohingya camp areas in Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar early Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Rohingyas Md Hares, 2, Mst Futuni, 34, Md Kalam, Mst Selina Khatun, Abu Meher, Joynab Bibi, Md Hossain Ahmed, 30, his wife Anwara Begum, and local resident Abdul Karim, 12.
Ukhiya Police Station officer in-charge Md Shamim Hossain confirmed the matter.
MA Gafur Uddin Chowdhury, the chairman of Palangkhali union parishad, a landslide occurred at camp no. 14 at Thaingkhali due to heavy rain and a chunk of mud fell on the house of Shah Alam outside the barbed wire of the camp, leaving a child named Abdul Karim dead.
