Three people were killed and three others injured in a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar early Monday over establishing supremacy.
The deceased were identified as Md Ilyas, 31, son of Zafar Ahmed, and Md Ishaq, 54, son of late Abdur Rakim, residents of Block-F at 4 no. Rohingya camp (extension), and Firoz Khan, 18, son of Md Ismail, of Block-E of 3 no. camp.
The incident occurred at Block-F of 4 no. Rohingya camp (extension).
A source in the 4 no. camp said 12-14 terrorists (they were identified as the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army members) entered the camp around 3 am crossing barbed wire.
Being informed about their entrance, the Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO) members staying in the camp asked Ilyas guarding the camp about ARSA members' entrance, and at one stage, they shot and hacked him as he did not provide correct information, leaving him dead on the spot, according to the source.
Learning the incident, ARSA members came to the camp again, opened fire on RSO members Ishaq, Firoz, Abdus Shukkur, and Abdul Monaf, and hacked them with sharp weapons, leaving them seriously injured, the source said.
Later, they were taken to Ukhiya Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared Ishaq and Firoz dead, the source added.
Ukhiya Police Station officer in-charge Shamim Hossain confirmed the matter.
