MP Anar murder: AL leader Babu put on 7-day remand

A court in Dhaka has placed Kamal Ahmed Babu alias Gas Babu, the relief and social welfare secretary of Jhenaidah unit Awami League, on a seven-day remand in a case filed over the murder of MP Anwarul Azim Anar.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order on Sunday after police had produced him before the court, seeking a 10-day remand for fair investigation in the lawsuit.

Earlier, a team of detectives from Dhaka detained him from Adrashapara area in Jhenaidah district town on Thursday night.

On May 22, India's West Bengal police said Anwarul Azim Anar, a lawmaker from the Jhenaidah-4 constituency, was killed there. 

On the same day, his daughter Mumtarin Ferdous Doreen lodged the case mentioned above with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, Dhaka in this connection.
