Liverpool thrashes Messi’s Barcelona

Liverpool thrashed La Liga champions Barcelona 4-0 at Wembley Stadium in their final International Champions Cup match on Saturday.

The Reds warmed up for their opening Premier League fixture of the new season against Arsenal a week on Sunday by scoring four unanswered goals against Luis Enrique’s side at the home of football.

Liverpool opened the scoring on the quarter-hour mark after a lovely flowing move down the right wing involving Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana, before the latter cleverly slid Sadio Mane through on goal.

The Senegal international winger made no mistake with an excellent close-range finish high into the net past a helpless Marc-Andre ter Stegen to score his first goal for his new team since moving to Anfield from Southampton for £36m earlier this summer.

Further strikes arrived after the break via a Javier Mascherano own goal, Divock Origi and Marko Grujic as the Reds recorded a resounding victory over Barca.
