Mild heat wave likely to continue in 8 districts

Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Thursday predicted the ongoing mild heat wave is likely to continue over eight places of the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am today.

"Mild heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the districts of Faridpur, Gopalgonj, Pabna, Rajshahi, Sirajgonj, Rangamati, Barisal and Patuakhali and it may continue," said the weather bulletin issued this morning.

"Day temperature may fall slightly over northern part and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere over the country, while night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country. Due to excessive moisture content the discomfort may persist," the bulletin said.

"Light to moderate rain thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at many places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions; at a few places over Chattogram division and at one or two places over Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country," it added.

Country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded 37.6 degrees Celsius at Jashore. While, today's minimum temperature 23.0 degrees Celsius was recorded at Tarash.

Rainfall for the last 24 hours commencing 6 am today was recorded 93mm at Joypurhat.

The sun sets at 6:44 pm today and rises at 5:11am tomorrow in the capital.
