MP Anar Murder: DB team off to Nepal

A four-member team of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), led by its chief Harun-or-Rashid, has left Dhaka for Nepal as part of their investigation into the murder of Jhenaidah-4 constituency lawmaker Anwarul Azim Anar.

A flight, carrying the detective team, departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday morning. 

DB Chief Harun said we are going to Nepal’s Kathmandu to investigate the murder of lawmaker Anar. We will seek help of Nepal police in the investigation. 

Asked whether an accused named Siam has been arrested in Nepal, the DB chief said we sent a letter to Interpol about some people including Siam and also informed Kathmandu police over the matter. We requested them to arrest the accused in Anar murder case who are in Nepal.

Earlier on May 26, a three-member DB team went to Kolkata to investigate the murder. After four days of investigation, they returned to Dhaka on May 30.

Ruling Awami League MP Anar went missing on May 13, day after reaching India for medical treatment.

India’s West Bengal police on May 22 said the Bangladeshi lawmaker Anar was brutally killed at a flat in New Town, near Kolkata.
