Voting in the third phase of the sixth upazila parishad elections has ended and counting is now underway.
The balloting started at 8 am in 87 upazilas of the country and continued to 4 pm without any break.
The Election Commission (EC) said voting was scheduled to be held in 112 upazilas in the third stage but 25 upazilas' election was suspended due to cases and the influence of cyclone Remal.
There are 1,152 candidates in the third phase polls. Among them, 397 are contesting for chairman, 456 for vice chairman, and 299 for women vice chairman posts.
The first phase of the upazila parishad election was held on May 8, the second phase on May 21, and the fourth and last phase will take place on June 5.
