The government has deployed 300 platoons of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) across the country to conduct third phase of sixth upazila parishad elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
Md Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer at BGB Headquarters, confirmed the information to Jago News on Tuesday.
He said the BGB will work as a striking force to help the local civil administration in the electoral areas from May 27 to 31 under the ‘in aid to civil power’.
The third phase of upazila parishad elections will be held on Wednesday.
During the 2nd phase of upazila elections, 457 BGB troops were deployed and in the 1st phase, a total of 418 troops were deployed.
