Flight operations at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram resumed early Monday after 17 hours of disruption due to inclement weather triggered by cyclone ‘Remal’.
Confirming the matter to Jago News, Airport Director Group Captain Taslim Ahmad said flight operations resumed at 5am. After opening, three flights have landed at the airport and two others have left.
The activities of Shah Amanat International Airport remained suspended from 12pm on Sunday in view of cyclone Remal. The decision came in response to the issuance of danger signal number 9 at the Chattogram port.
However, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department in its latest special weather bulletin said the severe cyclonic storm “Remal” moved northwards inland, completed crossing the coast and now lies over Koyra, Khulna and it is likely to weaken into a cyclonic storm within 2-3 hours.
