A court in India's West Bengal on Friday remanded Jihad Hawlader, an accused in the murder case of Bangladeshi MP Anwarul Azim Anar, in the custody of the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for 12 days.
Earlier on Thursday night, the state CID said in a statement that Jihad, 24, from Barakpur village in Dighalia upazila of Bangladesh's Khulna district, had introduced himself as Siyam to confuse police.
Bangladesh-origin US citizen Akhtaruzamman Shahin, who is the mastermind of Anar murder, took him, a butcher by profession who had been living in Mumbai as an intruder for several years, to Kolkata two months ago. In primary interrogation, Jihad admitted that he and three others killed MP Anar in the direction of Shahin.

On Wednesday (May 22), West Bengal police said Anwarul Azim Anar, Anwarul Azim Anar, a lawmaker from the Jhenaidah-4 constituency, was killed in the state.
It is, however, noted that MP Anar went to Kolkata on May 12 for medical treatment and went missing a day after arrival.
