MP Anar murder: Bangladeshi among 2 arrested in Kolkata

The West Bengal police of India on Thursday arrested two people including a Bangladeshi man in connection with the murder of Anwarul Azim Anar, a member of parliament for the Jhenaidah-4 constituency and President of Kaliganj Upazila unit of Awami League.

The arrestees were identified as Siam, a Bangladeshi national and Juber, a cab driver and Indian citizen.

Police said Siam was in the flat of Sanjiba Gardens in Kolkata’s New Town in the day when Anar was murdered there. He was given responsibility to hide the body parts of Anar who was cut into pieces after murder.

Police also said they seized the cab driver’s car which was used to hide the body parts of the lawmaker.  

Police source said, the criminals hired the car through an online rental service on April 30.

However, a case was filed with New Town Police Station over the murder incident.

Earlier on Wednesday, Indian police said the Bangladeshi lawmaker Anar was killed, who went to Kolkata on May 12 for medical treatment and went missing a day after arrival.
