Neighboring country trying to control Bangladesh: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday alleged that a neighboring country has been trying to control Bangladesh.

"A neighboring country has been trying to control Bangladesh since its birth and this (Awami League) government turned into a completely subservient regime," he said.

Mirza Fakhrul made the remarks in a discussion held at Jatiya Press Club in the capital Dhaka on the occasion of the historic 'Farakka Long-March Day'.

He also alleged that the Awami League retained the power by holding elections as they wished in fear of being defeated and eliminated and it has been continuing oppression of people to protect the interests of its masters.

Mentioning that no force can stop them from movement, the BNP secretary general said, "We have no alternative to being united irrespective of party affiliation and opinion. We must win if the democratic forces fight together."
