Some 26 people, including seven children, have been injured after being bitten by a dog in Tahirpur upazila of Sunamganj.
The incidents occurred in six villages - Ujan Tahirpur, Madhya Tahirpur, Tahirpur Bazar, Bhati Tahirpur, and Thakurhati under Sadar union, and Shahganj under South Shripur union - in around two hours from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday.
Tahirpur Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Mirza Riyad Hasan said the injured were given primary treatment and vaccine.
However, two of the injured were sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital as their condition was critical, he said.
Local people said the dog is of Madhya Tahirpur resident Shribas and the locals killed it in Shahganj village under South Shripur union this afternoon.
Md Nur, a resident of Shahganj village, said a dog suddenly bit him while returning home after finishing work at Tahirpur Bazar and he jumped into a pond to save himself.
Faisal Ahmed of Madhya Tahirpur said he was gossiping with a few people under a tree in the village when a dog suddenly bit his leg.
