Manoj Bajpayee and the late Sushant Singh Rajput co-starred in the critically acclaimed 2019 film Sonchiriya. Recently, Manoj revealed that Sushant struggled with negative articles written about him and often sought advice from Manoj on handling them, reports News18.
Speaking with Siddharth Kannan, Manoj shared his own experiences with producers publishing negative articles and how Sushant would turn to him for guidance. Manoj remembered Sushant’s sensitivity to such articles, describing him as a kind-hearted man who was deeply affected by them. He shared, “Sushant was very vulnerable when it came to blind articles. He was a very good human being and it is only a good person who can get affected by these things. He would often come to me and ask how to deal with these things, I used to tell him not to take these things seriously because I have gone through such situations before, and I am still bearing the brunt of such articles against me.”
Manoj suggested to Sushant to handle influential people in the industry differently. Manoj said, “I told him to handle people whose films are working, who are in power. I would handle such people in a different way. I would tell my friends to convey to them that I would come and beat them up. What’s important is that the message is conveyed. Sushant used to laugh and would say, ‘Sir aap he kar sakte ho, main nahi kar sakta yeh (Sir only you can do it, I can’t). But he was troubled by blind articles. He was a very sensitive and intelligent person.”
Manoj shared his last talk with Sushant, remembering how Sushant, also from Bihar, loved the mutton curry Manoj made on set. Sushant even wished to visit Manoj’s house one day to have it. Sadly, just 10 days later, Sushant died, allegedly by suicide, never getting the chance.
Manoj’s most recent appearance was in Silence 2, and he has already started filming for The Family Man 3. That apart, his upcoming movie, BhaiyyaJi, is set to be released on May 24, 2024.
