At least four people, including Comilla metro unit Islami Chhatra Shibir president, were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents in the district.Acting officer-in-charge of Mainamati Highway Police Station, Mahabubur Rahman confirmed the matter.He said a passenger bus plunged into a roadside ditch as the driver lost control over the steering on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Kabila area in Burichang upazila early Saturday, leaving Ismail and another dead on the spot.Five other passengers were injured in the incident, he added. Meanwhile, a mini-truck knocked another truck from behind at Jhagurjhuli area of the sadar upazila, leaving mini-truck’s helper Mainuddin dead on the spot.Besides, a vehicle knocked Islami Chhatra Shibir president Mozammel Haque at Mainamati-Nazirabazar around 9pm on Friday, leaving him critically injured.He was taken to Comilla Medical Center hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 11pm.
