83.04pc pass SSC, equivalent exams

The results of this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations have been published, showing 83.04 percent of students passed.

This year, the pass rate increased by 2.60 percent compared to last year when about 80.39 percent of students came out successfully.

The results were revealed simultaneously across the country after 11:30 am on Sunday.

Around 10:15 am, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled the SSC and its equivalent exam results online through a program at her Ganabhaban residence in Dhaka.

Earlier, Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury and education board chairmen handed over a summary of the results to the premier.

Students can see their results by visiting the websites of respective education boards or via SMS.

Around 20,24,192 students under the 11 education boards -- nine general, one madrasa and one technical -- took part in the Secondary School Certificate and its equivalent examinations.

The examinations started on February 15 and ended on March 12.
