Four people were killed by separate incidents of lightning strikes in Dighinala, Ramgarh and Matiranga upazilas of Khagrachhari early Sunday.
In Dighinala, a woman and her son died after their tin-shed house caught fire due to a lightning strike at Madyabetchari village.
The deceased were identified as Hasina Begum, wife of Md Sadek Miah and her son Hanif Miah, 8.
On information, Dighinala Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot and doused the fire and recovered the bodies.
Md Nurul Haque, Officer-in-charge of Dighinala Police Station, said the two bodies will be handed over to their families after legal process.
In Ramgarh, a farmer and his two cattle were killed when a thunderbolt struck them at Hajachara Para village.
The deceased was identified as Gonej Marma, 50, son of Konj Marma.
In Matiranga, a housewife was killed and her two sons were killed in a lightning strike at Shashikarbari Para of Belchari union.
The deceased were identified as Sumika Tripura, 27, wife of Sushen Tripura.
The two injured were admitted to Matoranga Upazila Health Complex.
Confirming the matter to Jago News, Belchari Union Parishad Chairman Md Rahmat Ullah, said it is a tragic death. An initiative has been taken to provide assistance to the family from the Matiranga Upazila administration.
