The prevailing heat wave condition over the country may continue for 72 hours commencing Sunday.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued an alert on Sunday in this regard.
Due to an increase in moisture incursion, the discomfort may persist, it said.
Earlier, the Met office issued a heat alert on April 25.
However, the Met office said rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with hails at isolated places. Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.
A very severe heat wave is sweeping over the district of Chuadanga and severe heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Jashore and Kushtia, it said.
Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka & Barishal divisions and rest parts of Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and the districts of Dinajpur, Rangamati, Chandpur, Feni and Bandarban and it may continue, it added.
