Three newly appointed judges of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) took oath on Thursday morning.
The three new apex court judges are - Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz, Justice Md Shahinur Islam and Justice Kashefa Hussain.
Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan administered the oath of office to the three new judges at 10:30 am at the Supreme Court judges’ lounge.
Attorney General Abu Mohammad (AM) Amin Uddin, Appellate Division Registrar Mohammad Saifur Rahman, High Court Division Registrar Munshi Md Moshiar Rahman and Supreme Court Bar Association President Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon were, among others, present during this time.
Earlier on Wednesday, President Mohammed Shahabuddin made the appointments in line with Article 95 (1) of the Constitution, by elevating them from the High Court Division to the Appellate Division.
With the new appointments, the total number of judges at the Appellate Division rose to eight.
