A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in Netrakona has been expelled after he was arrested along with heroin.
Expelled Abu Rayhan alias Proban is the vice president of Netrakona district unit BCL.
The central BCL decided this on Friday night, said the unit president Robiul Awal.
Sobayel Ahmed Khan, general secretary of the unit, said Abu Rayhan was expelled for his involvement in activities that go against the organization's discipline.
Locals and police sources, however, said Abu Rayhan has long been engaged in drug consuming and selling.
On Thursday, the Detective Branch (DB) of Police detained him and his associate Tafsir Khan from Gopalpur Bazar area in Barhatta upazila.
The law enforcers also recovered around 1 gram of heroin from his possession.
Later, a case was filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act and they were shown arrested in the lawsuit.
