Lille ease to 3-1 home win over Marseille

Lille earned a 3-1 home win over Olympique de Marseille on Friday thanks to second-half goals from Jonathan David, Remy Cabella and Gabriel Gudmundsson, moving them provisionally into third place in Ligue 1, reports Reuters.

The hosts are now on 49 points, overtaking AS Monaco on goal difference, who host Rennes on Sunday. Marseille remain seventh with 39 points, moving further away from European football spots.

David put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot in the 54th minute with his 16th league goal this season after being tripped by Samuel Gigot in front of goal.

Cabella doubled the lead with a fine curled shot into the top right corner in the 71st minute before Gabriel Gudmundsson sealed the rout with a simple finish six minutes from time.

Marseille had pulled one back through Ismaily's own goal in the 81st minute but could not avoid their fourth consecutive defeat across all competitions.
