The High Court (HC) has stayed the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) authorities’ decision banning student politics on the university campus.
The bench of Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar Kajal on Monday passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by BUET student and Chhatra League leader Imtiaz Rabbi.
The court also asked the university authorities to explain why the decision of banning student politics should not be announced illegal and unlawful.
Chhatra League leader Imtiaz Rabbi on Monday filed the writ petition challenging the legality of the university’s decision of banning student politics on the campus.
Student politics was banned on BUET campus after a group of Chhatra League men murdered a second-year student named Abrar Fahad at the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall on October 7, 2019.
The Chhatra League recently demanded that BUET authorities immediately lift its ban on student politics on campus.
