The cabinet on Monday rejected a recommendation to begin the Eid holiday for public officials from April 9.
The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in chair.
Due to this decision, there will be a three-day holiday this Eid. The Eid holiday will start on April 10.
The cabinet committee on law and order on Sunday recommended extension of the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays by one day from April 9 to ensure hassle-free journey of holidaymakers.
This year’s Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to fall on April 11 and the Eid holidays will be on April 10, 11 and 12.
However, the holidays will be extended by two days automatically as April 13 falls on Saturday and April 14 is Pahela Baishakh.
