A trader was killed after the car of the assistant commissioner (land), Sonargaon, Narayanganj ran over him in the district on Sunday afternoon.
Deceased Wahid Hossain Dilip, 45, was a resident of Raijdia village under Sonargaon municipality and would do tiles business.
Dilip's nephew Zobair Hossain said the government car of AC land Md Ibrahim ran over him in Aminpur area this afternoon when he was going to Adampur Bazar.
After the incident, the AC land, and his car driver got down from the vehicle and fled, Zobair said.
Later, the injured, Dilip, was rushed to Sonargaon Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) but he died on the way.
However, AC land Ibrahim could not be reached over the phone for comment.
About this, Sonargaon Police Station officer in-charge SM Kamruzzaman said a man with injury was brought to the health complex but he did not know that the man died on the way to DMCH.
Asked Sonargaon Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdullah Al Mahfuz, he said they were looking into whether the AC land's car driver had any negligence and will take the next measures in this regard after investigation.
