State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu has said a train carrying Indian onions will arrive in Bangladesh on Sunday night. In the first consignment, 1,650 tonnes of onion will enter the country from India.
The State Minister on Sunday told this to the reporters after a meeting of taskforce on commodity prices and market monitoring held at Secretariat in the capital.
He said the imported onions will be sold at Tk40 per kg through Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) in Dhaka and Chattogram.
Earlier on March 27, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved a proposal in principle for importing some 50,000 metric tons of onion from National Cooperative Exports Limited of India.
