Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) will hold a rally in Dhaka on Sunday demanding authorities allow student politics on the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) campus and protesting the decision to cancel a student's seat in a dormitory.
It will hold the rally at Central Shaheed Minar at 11 am, a press release signed BCL president Saddam Hossain and general secretary Sheikh Wali Inan said on Saturday evening.
The release said Chhatra League strongly condemns and protests the decision to scrap the seat of Imtiaz Hossain Rahim, a student of the Civil Engineering Department by BUET authorities on Saturday, calling it unjust, unconstitutional, against fundamental rights, and anti-education.
The announcement came after BUET students called to boycott classes and exams protesting the entry of the leaders and activists of Chhatra League on the campus early Friday.
Student politics has, however, been banned on the BUET campus since the sensational murder of the university student Abrar Fahad.
Abrar Fahad, 21, a student of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Department, was mercilessly beaten to death by some leaders and activists of the university unit BCL on the night of October 6, 2019, over a Facebook post where he criticized some deals between Bangladesh and India.
