A college student has filed a case against Golam Kibria alias Boro Monir, an Awami League leader in Tangail, accusing him of raping her in Dhaka.
She filed the case with Turag Police Station in the capital on Saturday under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
Later, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Sheikh Sadi accepted the statement of the lawsuit and asked the police to submit an investigation report on April 18.
Earlier on Friday night, the college student dialed the national emergency number 999 seeking help, and later, police rescued her from the flat of Boro Monir in Priyanka residential area under Turag Police Station. She alleged that she was forcefully taken to the house and raped.
In the case statement, the victim said she met Boro Monir on Facebook who called her sister and after that, she used to talk to him on WhatsApp. On Friday night, he took her to his flat and forcefully raper her there.
Boro Monir is, however, the vice president of Tangail town unit Awami League and the elder brother of Tangail-2 (Gopalpur-Bhuiyanpur) lawmaker Tanvir Hasan alias Chhoto Monir.
He, also the secretary general of Tangail bus minibus owners association, is on bail in another rape case.
