Seven abducted in Teknaf in 24 hours, Tk 5 lakh ransom demanded

Miscreants abducted seven people, including four teenage boys, in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar in the last 24 hours and demanded Tk 5 lakh ransom from the victims' families.

The abductees are Mohammad Nur, 15, son of Firoz Ahmed, a resident of Kambania Para under Hoaikong union, Ali Ahmed, 30, son of late Amir Hossain, of 1 no. ward, Shakil Mia, 15, son of Ledu Mia, Md Zunaid, 13, son of Belal, Md Saiful, 14, son of Nurul Amin, Md Farid, 25, of Shohor Ali, and Sona Mia, 24, son of Nazir Hossain, residents of of Karachi Para of 5 no. ward under Hnila union.

Of them, five were abducted this afternoon when they were working on a vegetable field, and two others were kidnapped on Tuesday evening, said Hoaikong union parishad chairman professor Nur Ahmed Anwari.

Quoting the family members, Nur Ahmed said Tk 3 lakh was demanded as ransom from the families of the five abducted today and Tk two lakh sought from the families of the rest two kidnapped yesterday.

Teknaf Model Police Station officer in-charge Muhammad Osman Gani said police were conducting drives to rescue the abductees.
