The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested five suspected members of a robbery gang in Mohammadpur area of the capital Dhaka.
The arrestees are Md Amir Hossain, 34, Md Riaz, 27, Md Badrul, 34, Md Monir Hossain alias Roni, 26, and Rina Begum, 34.
On a tip-off, a drive was conducted in Mohammadpur area on Monday night and five members of a dacoit gang were apprehended along with locally made arms when they were preparing for robbery, said MJ Sohel, assistant director (media) of RAB-10.
The arrestees are members of an organized robbery gang and they had been committing theft and robbery in Mohammadpur and its adjacent areas for a few days, he added.
He also said a case was filed against them and they were handed over to the police station concerned.
