A Bangladeshi youth was shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Porsha border in Naogaon early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Al Amin, 33, a resident of Nitpur village in Porsha upazila.
Local sources said several Bangladeshi men, including Al Amin, entered Milmari area of Malda district in India's West Bengal state through Nitpur border on Monday night.
Sensing their presence, members of Agrabad camp under BSF-159 Battalion opened fire on them while returning to Bangladesh early today, leaving one dead, and others managed to flee. The BSF personnel also took his body.
Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Sadiqur Rahman, commanding officer of Naogaon-16 Border Guard Bangladesh, said the incident occurred in Milmari area inside Indian territory around two kilometers away from Bangladesh border.
A letter has been sent to BSF for a flag meeting at the company commander level of BGB and BSF in this regard, he added.
