Five members of a family, including three children, died, and another child was severely injured from electrocution in Moulvibazar in the early hours of Tuesday.
The incident took place at Purba Goalbari village in Juri upazila.
The deceased were identified as Foizur Rahman, 52, his wife Siri Begum, 45, daughters Samia Begum, 16, Sabina, 13, and son Sayem, 8.
Injured Sonia Akter, 7, was admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College.
Local union parishad member Md Emdadul Islam Chowdhury Masum said the incident occurred after an electric wire fell on the tin roof of a house due to heavy rain and lightning. While trying to leave the house during this time, five members of the same family were electrocuted to death.
On information, local and district administration and police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. They will be buried after namaz-e-janaza around 4pm, he added.
