The nation observed a one-minute symbolic ‘blackout’ from 11pm to 11:01pm on Monday throughout the country marking the Genocide Day.
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs took the initiative to observe the blackout recalling the massacre launched by Pakistani Army on the unarmed Bangalees on the black night of March 25 in 1971 under the infamous “Operation Searchlight”.
However, the key point installations (KPIs) and the essential establishments remained out of the purview of the programme.
As part of the program, the government restricted illuminations at all buildings.
Notably, the government officially declared March 25 as the ‘Genocide Day’ in 2017.
