The fire that broke out at Korail slum in the capital Dhaka has been brought under control.
Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control around 4:33 pm on Sunday, Lima Khanam, duty officer at Fire Service and Civil Defence, told Jago News.
Earlier, the Fire Service received information about a fire at the slum at about 4:10 pm, Lima Khanam said.
Later, 12 units of firefighters went to the spot in phases and brought the blaze under control, she added.
But the official could not say anything about the reasons behind the fire, and any casualties.
However, Fire Service Deputy Director (planning) Md Aktaruzzaman said the fire destroyed 40-50 houses in the slum.
