Another victim of the Gazipur gas cylinder explosion died at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS) on Saturday, taking the death toll from the incident to 2.
The deceased was identified as Monsun, 45.
Earlier on Friday morning, one victim named Solayman Mollah, 45, succumbed to his injuries.
At least 35 people, including women and children, were injured in a gas cylinder explosion at Telirchala area Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur on Wednesday evening. Thirty-two of them were admitted to the SHNIBPS in a critical condition.
Locals said a cooking gas cylinder started leaking at a house of one Shafik Khan in the area. Later, he brought the cylinder to the main door and threw it out on the road, leading to the explosion.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen on Thursday said at a press conference that thirty-two victims are not out of danger. Of them, 16 sustained 80 percent burn injuries and 10 others received 90 burn injuries. The respiratory systems of all of them have been burnt.
