Tahseen Bahar Shuchona, the daughter of Awami League MP Bahauddin Bahar, has won the mayoral by-election to Cumilla City Corporation.
The city Awami League's Organizing Secretary Shuchona secured 48,890 votes to defeat her nearest candidate Monirul Haque Sakku who got 26,897 votes.
Returning Officer Farhad Hossain announced the results at Cumilla Zila School auditorium on Saturday evening.
Earlier, voting in the polls began at 8 am and ended at 4 pm.
The last election in Cumilla City Corporation was held on June 15, 2022, but on December 13, 2023, he passed away. That's why now the by-polls took place in the city.
