A supporter of an independent candidate was allegedly injured in a firing at a polling centre of the Cumilla City Corporation (CCC) mayoral by-election on Saturday morning.
The incident took place at Munshi M Ali High School centre in the city at 10:15am.
The injured was identified as Jahirul Ahmed, a supporter of independent mayoral candidate Nizam Uddin Kaiser.
Nizam Uddin alleged that Jahirul was shot beside the Munshi M Ali High School centre at ward no 19. Apart from, one of my agents was attacked at ward no 3. The transport workers led by councilor of ward no 22 Azad and Juba League leader Apu intercepted the voters from casting their votes.
In this connection, Presiding Officer Hasan Ahmed told Jago News that he informed the magistrate about the matter.
