A court in Jhenaidah has sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment for raping a minor girl in Shailkupa upazila.
Lifer Tarikul Zoarder, 50, is a resident of Khudra Royera village in the upazila.
The Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal judge Md Mizanur Rahman delivered the verdict on Wednesday.
The court also fined him Tk 1 lakh and in default, he will have to serve four months more in jail.
Prosecution lawyer Bazlur Rahman said Tarikul Zoarder raped the five-year-old daughter of Soleman Sheikh, a resident of Khudra Royera village, on February 7, 2021, when she was alone at home.
On the following day, Soleman Sheikh's brother lodged a case with Shailakupa Police Station in this connection.
