Expatriates send $216.60cr remittance in February

The expatriate Bangladeshis sent remittances of around $216.60 crore (equivalent to about Tk 23,826 crore) in February, the eighth month of the current fiscal year 2023-24.

The amount is about $6 crore more than that of January when the country saw $210 crore in remittance, a source in Bangladesh Bank said on Sunday.

Officials concerned said the income sent home by expatriate workers rose due to giving incentives for remittances by banks besides the government and encouraging expatriates to send remittances through official channels.
