A Dhaka court has granted bail to BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas in a case filed with Dhaka Railway Police Station.
Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Julhas Uddin passed the order on Monday.
Mirza Abbas’ lawyer Mohiuddin Chowdhury said there is no legal bar for his release from jail as he secured bail in total 11 cases filed against him centering BNP’s October 28 rally. He will be freed after his bail papers reach the jail.
On October 28 last year, a chaos broke out as BNP leaders and workers entered into a clash with police in the city’s Nayapaltan and its surrounding areas during the party’s grand rally.
Amid the clash, BNP men allegedly attacked on the residence of the Chief Justice (CJ) and broke one of its gates and damaged its nameplate.
A total of 11 cases were filed against Abbas following the incidents.
The BNP standing committee member was arrested from city’s Shahidbagh area by police on October 31 and was placed on a five-day remand.
