A legal notice has been sent to the authorities concerned demanding the closure of all educational institutions during the Holy month of Ramadan.
Supreme Court lawyer Md Ilyas Ali Mondal sent the notice in the public interest on Sunday, he confirmed to Jago News.
Primary and Mass Education Ministry, and Secondary and Higher Education Division secretaries were made respondents in the notice.
The notice said during Ramadan, it's difficult for teachers to teach students, for pupils to concentrate on lessons, and for guardians to take them to school. In this situation, an urge was made for instruction to close educational institutions.
However, a writ petition will be filed in court seeking necessary directions if the educational institutions are not kept shut during Ramadan.
Earlier on Saturday, a group of guardians demanded school closure during Ramadan.
On February 8, the government decided to continue academic activities in the primary, and secondary schools for the first 10, and 15 days of Ramadan respectively.
