Four people, including two women, were killed as a pickup van hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail on Sunday afternoon.
The dead were identified as the auto-rickshaw driver Nazmul Islam, son of Samej Uddin, a resident of Nayapara village, Rahima Begum, wife of Tara Mia of Telipara village, and Lutfar Rahman alias Maizuddin, son of Yusuf Mia of Gairabetil Abul Market area in Bashtail union, and Abbas Mia, son of Bidyut Mia of Nagar Bhatgram under Uarshi union.
Police and witnesses said a pickup van hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Telipara area on the Gorain-Sakhipur road around 3:45 pm, leaving the latter vehicle's three passengers dead on the spot and its driver injured. Later, the injured died on the way to a hospital.
Bashtail Police Outpost in-charge inspector Humayun Kabir confirmed the matter.
