Three bodies of victims who died in the massive fire at Benapole Express train in Dhaka’s Gopibagh have been identified through DNA tests.
The victims were identified as Elina Yesmin, 40, daughter of Saidur Rahman Babu, Chandrima Chowdhury Soumi, 24, daughter of Chittoranjan Pramanik and Abu Talha, 24, son of Abdul Haque Mondol.
They all were the residents of Rajbari district.
The relative of the victims and local representatives confirmed the matter to Jago News on Thursday morning.
The bodies of the victims have been kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and will be handed over to their relatives today, it is learnt.
The victims remained missing after the Benapole Express train fire incident at Gopibagh in the capital on January 5. They were coming to Dhaka from Rajbari by the train.
Elina’s cousin Kazi Polash said his sister’s body has been identified through a DNA test and will be handed over from the DMCH today.
Rajbari’s Khanganj Union Parishad Chairman Sharifur Rahman Sohan and Kalukhali Mrigi Union Parishad Chairman M A Motin confirmed that the bodies of Soumi and Talha have been identified through DNA tests and will be handed over to their families.
