A female student of Dhaka University has reportedly committed suicide in Jatrabari of the capital Dhaka.
Deceased Sumaiya Akter, 20, was the third year student at DU and daughter of Jamal Uddin, a resident of at Mridhapara Pashchimpara in Matuail under Jatrabari Police Station.
Jamal Uddin said Sumaiya hanged herself from the ceiling fan in her room on Tuesday night after a quarrel over family matter.
Later, she was rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared her dead, he added.
He also said their village home is under Barura Police Station in Cumilla.
DMCH Police Camp in-charge inspector Md Bachchu Mia confirmed the matter.
