The Election Commission will hold the upazila parishad (UP) elections in four phases in May.
The first phase of the polls will take place on May 4, the second phase on May 11, the third phase on May 18, and the fourth and final phase on May 25.
Election Commission (EC) Secretary Md Zahangir Alam said this after the 27th commission meeting at Nirbachan Bhaban on Tuesday afternoon.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal presided over the meeting.
EC Secretary Zahangir said a detailed schedule of the UP elections will be provided in the next week.
There are 495 upazila parishads in the country and the last UP polls were held in five phases which began on March 10, 2019, and ended in June of the last year.
