The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned Myanmar Ambassador to Bangladesh Aung Kyaw Moe and protested following the death of two people by a mortar shell fired from Myanmar.
The Myanmar Ambassador reached the state guesthouse Padma in Dhaka at 11am and left 11:35am on Tuesday.
Confirming the matter to Jago News, foreign ministry’s Director General (Myanmar wing) Miah Md Mainul Kabir, said a meeting has been held with Myanmar Ambassador to protest the ongoing conflicts along the Bangladesh border.
However, a total of 229 Myanmar troops have so far taken refuge in Bangladesh fleeing their posts amid reports of heavy gunfights between the government troops and the rebels in the junta-run country. The members of Border Guard Police (BGP) and other forces of Myanmar government are among them.
Earlier on Monday, two people-a Bangladeshi woman and a Rohingya man-were killed by a mortar shell fired from Myanmar side of the border at Jolpaitoli area under Ghumdhum Union Parishad in Naikhongchhari of Bandarban.
