Testimony recording starts against BNP's Aman, 33 others

A court in Dhaka on Monday started recording testimonies against 34 BNP leaders and activists, including its Dhaka North City unit Convener Amanullah Aman, in a case of vehicle vandalism and torching.

Md Keramat Ali, the plaintiff of the case and sub-inspector at Keraniganj Model Police Station, Dhaka first gave testimony in the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate AKM Rakibul Hasan.

Later, the court fixed March 4 for further testimony.

On July 17, 2014, SI Ashok Kumar of the same police station submitted a chargesheet against the 34 BNP leaders and activists.

On December 20, 2023, the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate AKM Rakibul Hasan ordered to start trial against the accused.

The case statement said BNP men vandalized vehicles and torched a truck in Ghatarchar area of Keraniganj on November 27, 2013, as part of the 18-party alliance's road, rail and waterways blockade.

They also threw brickbats toward police as the law enforcers tried to obstruct them, said the statement.
